Best Football Clubs for Families

If you’re a football fan then there’s a very good chance that you’re going to want to persuade your family to love what you love. If you’ve got kids, the reality is that you’ll be wanting to brainwash them into supporting your team of choice or, at the very least, enjoy going to football matches.

Whilst this means that you’re unlikely to be taking them to The Den to watch Millwall any time soon, there are a number of clubs that definitely fit into the bracket of being ‘family friendly’. Although you’re not all that likely to start supporting a club just because kids are welcome, it is at least a good way of getting them into the sport you’re so passionate about.

Fulham

For most football supporters, Craven Cottage is somewhere that they love to go. Not only is the ground located in a lovely part of London right next to the Thames, the stadium is also one in which you’re unlikely to hear much swearing or anger coming from the crowd.

Tickets are generally relatively easy to come by, whilst the club once pioneered the ‘My First Game’ initiative, promising kids visiting the Cottage for the first time a day to remember.

If you’re looking to take your little one to their first match or their first away game, you would certainly do a lot worse than to take them along to a Fulham game if you get the opportunity.

Liverpool

Unlike Fulham, getting hold of tickets for a Liverpool match isn’t particularly easy. On top of that, you’re certainly likely to have to put up with some decidedly more choice language from time to time. Yet for all of the bad that we could say, there is also plenty of good about a trip to Anfield.

The Fan Park, located just outside the stadium proper, has numerous initiatives aimed at youngsters that include the ability to have your photo taken at specific locations or submit a match report that they’ve written.

If you’ve got a child with a disability then the Liverpool Disabled Supporters Association is a brilliant thing to be able to turn to for help, assistance and advice.

Brighton & Hove Albion

It isn’t just children that will be made to feel welcome at a Brighton & Hove Albion match. Even the name of the ground that the club plays its games in, the Amex Community Stadium, tells you what to expect.

You will be made to feel like you’re part of a community here, meaning that adults can enjoy a pint or two after the full-time whistle without the usual desperation to clear you off the premises as soon as possible.

For kids, meanwhile, the Young Seagulls is a supporter group that allows your young ones to get involved with entertainers, alongside the ability to be in a part of the ground specifically reserved for families.

Real Madrid

Ok, this one is slightly further afield and therefore won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re going to go on holiday at some point then why not make Madrid your destination of choice?

Whilst you’re there you can pop along to the Santiago Bernabeu and get reasonably cheap tickets to see one of the best and most successful club sides on the planet.

Even if you don’t want to see Real play live, you can instead opt to do the stadium tour and see one of the most impressive footballing venues anywhere in the world. If that isn’t something that your little one enjoys, you can follow it up with a trip to the National Museum of Natural Sciences to see some dinosaurs.

Non-League Venues

Let’s be honest, most kids are going to want to see some Premier League football when they go to the game. Although some might settle for an outing at a Championship ground, the majority are going to want to see the players and managers that they’ve seen on Match of the Day.

If you want to get them into football, though, then one of the best things that you can do is to take them along to a non-league venue near you.

They will virtually all offer you a proper footballing experience, complete with the ability to get close to the players and the pitch and enjoy a pint or a bag of chips as you watch the matches play out in front of you.
